A Night in Monte Carlo
SATURDAY,October 26, 2007, the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, Greater Kansas City Chapter (AAFA-KC) held our Ninth Annual Fundraising Event, ‘A Night In Monte Carlo.’ Located at the Overland Park Sheraton Hotel, a lively casino party, along with a dynamic live and silent auction provided a celebration of 25 years of service to Greater Kansas City communities.
AAFA-KC is dedicated to improving the quality of life for those who suffer from asthma and severe allergic disorders. The generosity of the Kansas City community has provided the necessary funding for our vital programs to continue, making this event the most successful in over 5 years. Programs like our Superkids Asthma Camp, Family Asthma & Allergy Education Day and Continuing Education for Nurses & Physicians are some of the vital programs that this funding will assist.
Asthma and allergies affect more than 60 million Americans: Asthma is the nation’s most common and most costly illness affecting 17 million people, and allergies are the sixth-leading cause of chronic disease in the United States affecting 50 million people. Though treatments exist, there are still thousands in our city who live undiagnosed and unaided.
“Knowledge of asthma and allergies and the importance of consistent behavior is the key to improving health and quality of life.” said Melissa Ford, Executive Director of AAFA-KC, “So much can be done to prevent and treat asthma attacks.”
More information about our upcoming fundraising event - and all other programs and services- is available by calling the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, Greater Kansas City Chapter (AAFA-KC) at 816.333.6608 or visiting www.aafakc.org. AAFA-KC is a nonprofit consumer and patient organization fighting asthma and allergic diseases.
